Michael Malthouse
Senior Coach

2010 is Malthouse’s 11th season at the helm at Collingwood, having guided the club to consecutive Grand Final appearances in 2002-03, and his 27th in charge at the highest level.

After playing 174 games for St Kilda and Richmond between 1972-83, including the Tigers’ 1980 premiership triumph, he coached Footscray for six seasons from 1984-1989, and then led West Coast for ten seasons from 1990-1999, taking the Eagles to premierships in 1992 and 94, before moving to Collingwood.

2009 was a huge year for Malthouse, who coached his17th final series which takes him to third-spot on the all-time list of coaches.

Malthouse was able to steer the Magpies to its fourth successive trip to the finals.  An amazing win over Adelaide in the Semi final proved that this new group of players are up to the challenges of finals football.

The head coach will take relinquish his head coaching duties at the end of 2011 to Nathan Buckley but will continue to serve at the club in an administrative capacity.

Mark Neeld
Assistant Coach
(Midfield)
Neeld, who played 74 league games in seven season for Geelong and Richmond, came to Collingwood in 2008 as defensive assistant coach after a decorated coaching career at suburban and elite junior level, most recently at the helm of the Western Jets in Victoria's TAC Cup Under 18 competition. Coached Ocean Grove to four straight premierships from 2000-2003.

Neeld created a working class outfit in defence in 2009.  Led by skipper Nick Maxwell, the Magpie back six gave up the second least points against in the AFL.

In 2010 Neeld will oversee the midfield group which includes new draftees Luke Ball and Darren Jolly.

Paul Hudson
Assistant Coach
(Opposition)
In his second year at the club, Hudson will oversee opposition tactics after contending with the Magpie forward line in 2009.

From 2007-2008, Hudson spent two years as an assistant coach under Leigh Matthews at the Brisbane Lions.

Prior to that Hudson spent two seasons (2005, ‘06) as head coach of the Gippsland Power in Victoria’s TAC Cup under 18 competition, where he coached young Magpies Scott Pendlebury, Dale Thomas, Tyson Goldsack and Brent Macaffer.

Scott Watters
Assistant Coach
(Defensive)
Watters arrives at the club after enjoying success as a head coach in Western Australia having coached Subiaco to successive premierships in 2007 and 2008.

The former Eagle will be instructed under his former coach, Mick Malthouse, after playing four seasons under him.

Nathan Buckley
Assistant Coach
(Forwards)
Arguably one of the greatest players to don the black and white guernsey, Nathan Buckley made headlines last year when it was announced he would hold an assistant coach position at Collingwood for two seasons before assuming head coaching duties for the following three years.

Described as a major coup by the club, Buckley have the opportunity to work closely under Malthouse before becoming the head coach.

The former skipper will take over the forward line and will look to continue Jack Anthony's steady growth while find a comfortable place for Travis Cloke.

Max Hudghton
Assistant Coach
(Part-time defensive)
Renowned as one of the best defenders in the competition during his 234-game career at St Kilda, Hudghton will assist in overseeing the Magpie backline in 2010.

After retiring in 2009, Hudghton will be able to provide fresh and current insight into how many of the current backlines operate in the AFL.

Gavin Brown
VFL Coach/Development
The former Collingwood captain and 1990 premiership player assisted senior coach Mick Malthouse for six seasons before taking up the role as coach of the club’s newly established stand-alone VFL side for the 2008 season. Brown won three Magpie best and fairests in 254 games, captained the club for five seasons and was named on the interchange bench in the Magpies’ Team of the Century.

His first season as coach was considered a successfull one as he was able to ready his players for the call-up to senior footy.

  Luke Beveridge
Development Manager
Luke Beveridge comes to Collingwood having spent the past three seasons as the head coach of St Bedes in the Victorian Amateur Football Association.

He coached St Bedes to three successive premierships moving up a section level each year from C section in 2006 to A grade in section in 2008.

Beveridge enjoyed a solid playing career, in which he appeared in 118 AFL games and kicked 107 goals in 11 seasons for Melbourne, Footscray and St Kilda.

Beveridge’s grandfather, Jack Beveridge, was a champion for the Collingwood Football Club playing 148 games including four premierships during the ‘Machine Team’ era (1927-1930).
