A slashing final quarter from Brisbane's Anthony Corrie at the Gabba on Saturday night has earned Anthony Corrie the round 17 nomination for the NAB AFL Rising Star award.
The Lions won the game by 13 points, with Corrie booting four for the night including three in the final quarter. He now has 20 goals from 14 games.
Corrie hails from Darwin club Southern Districts and was drafted by the Lions with the 44th selection overall at the 2002 NAB AFL Draft. He won the Harrison Medal for the best player in Division Two at that year's under 18 championships.
The 21 year old made his debut in round four last season and won 16 touches on debut against West Coast, and earned plaudits for his courageous act later in the year against Essendon, which left him with a broken jaw after a clash with Dustin Fletcher.
He is the fourth Lion to be nominated for the NAB AFL Rising Star Award and will join teammates Justin Sherman, Jed Adcock and Troy Selwood at the awards lunch in Melbourne at the end of August.
