Five new Collingwood recruits had their first practice with their new teammates on Monday morning December 1.

The team completed a closed testing session, which comprised of a two-kilometer time trial and a light skills session at Gosh’s Paddock.

For Steele Sidebottom (pick 11), Dayne Beams (29), Jarrad Blight (45), Luke Rounds (46), and Leigh Brown (73) this was a new experience.

There was no surprise with the winner of the time trial.  Martin Clarke reaffirmed his position as one of the quickest at Collingwood clocking in a blistering pace of 6:05.

Scott Pendlebury (6:10) finished in second place and looked like the two-week high altitude training camp trip in Flagstaff, Arizona proved beneficial.

The surprise package on the day was new Magpie, Steele Sidebottom (6:11), who impressed his new teammates and coaches finishing in third place.

The team completed the training session at Gosch’s Paddock with a light skills session.

There will be an open training session on Wednesday morning at Gosch’s Paddock.  The training is to commence at 9:30 am (time subject to change).

The players jostle for position before the start.

Nathan Brown leads comfortably after the first lap with Ben Johnson in second position.

Brown looks to get serious after lap two with the pack closing in.

Scott Pendlebury, Steele Sidebottom and Chris Dawes close hard to finish in the top five.
