Collingwood is committed to ensuring that it regularly provides its fans on social media with the latest news, insightful photos and general information as swiftly as possible, as well as maintaining a method of two-way communication with supporters that allows supporters the opportunity to provide feedback and enjoy interaction with other Magpie fans.

As of December 2012, Collingwood leads the AFL with 214,000 Facebook fans and 38,000 Twitter followers as well as a rapidly growing fan base of more than 8,000 on Instagram. The club’s YouTube channel boasts over 5,000 subscribers and has logged more than 3,235,000 views on its videos over the past three years.

Several Collingwood players and coaches are also active users of Twitter. Nathan Buckley (@ncb_cfc), Dane Swan (@swandane), Scott Pendlebury (@SP_10), Harry O’Brien (@harry_o) and Dale Thomas (@DT_13) are all regular tweeters, providing frequent snapshots of their lives.

The desire for instant information and glimpses of the action behind the scenes has never been stronger, and the club is excited about the possibilities presented by the various social media channels.
