Bryan, an aggressive ruckman with a booming left foot kick, played 17 games in the 2008 season, including the club's two finals, and was a good contributor for the Magpies after managing 12 appearances in 2007.  When Josh Fraser went down with an injury in round 13, Bryan carried the ruck duties for four games.  His round 15 performance against Adelaide showed he was able to play as a dominant ruckman racking up a career-high 22 hit outs against a potent Crows ruck duo.  Capable of pushing forward and taking a strong contested mark, Bryan will be in a constant battle for one of the two ruck positions in 2009 along with vice-captain Josh Fraser and young ruckman Cameron Wood.

Career
Selected by Collingwood in the pre-season draft at the end of 2006 after two seasons and 16 matches with Carlton, Bryan made 12 appearances during 2007, playing mainly as Josh Fraser's backup, but also stepping up in two finals appearances – against West Coast and Geelong. He played 17 games in 2008 and was a reliable contributor.
