Multicultural Program 2010

Welcome!

Going into its 5th year, Collingwood Football Club’s Multicultural Football Program has most certainly been a very exciting and is reaching out to new communities and organisations across a whole host of activities and events.

At Collingwood the players and staff believe that engaging the multicultural community is an integral aspect of growing the game - 135,000 people coming to Australia each year and calling it there home.
Having several indigenous players as well as our new recruit Seamus McNamara (Born in America), Harry O’Brien (Born in Brazil) and Alan Didak (Croatian Descent) presents the club with a diverse playing group.

Australian Football has a unique capacity to capture the hearts and minds of people from all walks of life. CFC believes that Australian Football – something ingrained in the culture and history of Australia – has a valuable role to play in assisting people from CALD Backgrounds integrate into society.

The primary objective of the Multicultural Program is to assist migrant and refugee communities to access Australian Football whether that is as a player, fan, administrator or umpire.

We at Collingwood want community leagues and clubs to embrace multicultural diversity and will strive for excellence in achieving our goals.

With our exciting program we believe that hurdles can be overcome in reaching migrant and refugee communities.

On behalf of the club, the club would like to thank, AFL Victoria, Victorian Government, Our Community Partners, Sponsors and Members for their support and hard work.

We look forward to working with you again in 2010!
