Senior pair best in VFL

Collingwood ended its VFL season with an 82-point loss to Werribee at Victoria Park on Saturday.

Despite the margin, the result wasn't without its individual positives.

Andrew Krakouer was in great touch in the first half and finished the day with a team-high 27 possessions. Krakouer moved between the midfield and half forward where he helped bring teammates into the game with his creative handballing.

Powerfully built key forward Jackson Paine brought the crowd to its feet in the first half with some eye catching grabs that had Pies fans dreaming of an upset defeat.

The 19-year-old booted three for the half and may have kicked more had supply not dried up in the final hour.

Youngsters Josh Thomas and Corey Gault could hold their head high after several weeks of consistent performances in the midfield and back line respectively and Jarrod Witts shouldered the ruck burden for the majority of the afternoon and was consistent over the duration of the four quarters.

The club's fifth season as a stand alone entity has come to a close, but with the senior side set to play a major role in September, several players could still find themselves in the mix to run out onto the MCG in the coming weeks.
