Collingwood midfielder Dayne Beams was unanimously adjudged as best on ground in the side’s six-point win over Port Adelaide in the latest round of voting for the AFLCA’s Champion Player of the Year award.

The 2012 Copeland Trophy winner returned to his influential best against the Power, collecting 32 possessions in a dynamic display, highlighted by his impressive work at stoppages.

Leading all-players on the ground with 18 contested possessions, including 10 clearances, Beams was relentless as he helped inspire the Magpies to a win which saw the side reclaim its place within the top eight.

Fellow on-baller Scott Pendlebury meanwhile returned to the top five on the Champion Player of the Year leader board after his 27 disposal performance earned him six votes.

Pendlebury turned in a display of characteristic composure, rarely appearing troubled as the four-time All-Australian scythed through the Power midfield with aplomb.

The Magpie skipper was joined by Steele Sidebottom in receiving six votes after the 23-year old recorded his second successive 30 disposal performance, including eight contested possessions, four inside 50s and two goals.

Emerging midfielder Taylor Adams overcame injury to earn a single vote after perhaps his most impressive outing in Magpie colours.

The former GWS Giant provided clear sign of the ability which made him a keenly sought asset during last year’s trade window, collecting 28 touches and laying seven tackles, his already trademark grit and determination on full display.

An intrepid, three goal, 10 mark effort from Travis Cloke meanwhile ensured he too was recognised among the best players afield, receiving a single vote for his toils.
