To celebrate his 50th birthday, Collingwood Media has dug through the archives to find some quintessential Eddie McGuire moments during his 16 year tenure as club President.

McGuire became President of the Collingwood Football Club on his 34th birthday and has overseen a complete transformation of the club's on and off field fortunes.

Rising from Victoria Park in the late '90s to the glory of Grand Final day at the MCG in 2010, McGuire has helped entrench Collingwood as a powerhouse of the Australian Football League.

Starting with a dignified end: McGuire managed to oversee a relatively smooth end to Tony Shaw's four years as senior coach in 1999. Shaw announced he would be stepping down at season's end ahead of the round 13 clash with St Kilda.

The Malthouse Makeover begins: Nathan Buckley, Mick Malthouse and Eddie McGuire can't hide their excitement as they announce the appointment of the dual West Coast premiership coach as Collingwood's new leader in the spring of 1999. A twelve year journey was about to begin.

Early success: McGuire, board member Jack Kennedy and Malthouse sing Good Old Collingwood Forever after an early season win in 2000.

Mr Versatile: Eddie has a kick with a club sponsor on Victoria Park.

Pies on the rise: McGuire celebrates with the faithful after a huge win over West Coast at Colonial Stadium in 2001.

A defining moment: McGuire announces the appointment of Nick Maxwell to the Collingwood captaincy.

They said we'd never make it: McGuire and Buckley embrace after the final siren sounds on the 2010 Grand Final Replay.

Man of the people: Eddie embraces Joffa after the 2010 Grand Final Replay.

Pride: The dream becomes reality as Eddie watches Simon Prestigiacomo unfurl the 2010 premiership pennant atop the MCG scoreboard ahead of the round three win over Carlton.

Sing when you're winning: McGuire leads the way as his players sing Good Old Collingwood Forever after beating Essendon on ANZAC Day, 2014.

Happy 50th Birthday, Eddie, and many happy returns.
