With five weeks of pre-season training behind them, the Collingwood players have another fortnight of intense work on the track before taking a break for Christmas. Collingwoodfc.com.au caught up with three players to summarise the summer campaign so far.

Brodie Grundy
How would you describe your pre-season so far?

I’ve been reasonably happy with how my pre-season stuff has been going. I came back on my first day and ran a PB, so that was good for me mentally more than anything, just to know that I’m coming back in good shape and feeling pretty good, and injury free. This time of year it’s all you can really hope for, so it’s been good.

Which player has stood out to you?
Darcy Moore
comes to mind. Yesterday he really stood out to me at training, coming in and having a real impact defensively and in the air. Darcy definitely comes to mind. Guys like Jackson Ramsay have also brought good intensity.

What are your plans for Christmas?
I’m going to go back home, first to get back to the roots. Then I’m going to head up to Hamilton Island with my family and just enjoy a nice, well-earned break and freshen up.

Levi Greenwood
How would you describe your pre-season so far?
I’ve been really enjoying it so far, being at the club and getting to know everyone involved here.

Which player has stood out to you?
Taylor Adams. I think he’s really been setting the standard on the track. He’s very driven at the moment. I didn’t see much of him last year, but he’s been one who really stood out for me. I do weights with Nathan Freeman at the moment and he’s also flying. He’s getting stronger every day and he’ll be one to watch out for this year after an injury-riddled season.

What are your plans for Christmas?
I’m going back to Adelaide to do Christmas in Mount Barker and I’ll also spend time in Victor Harbour and Port Neill, so I’ll be down there for New Years and come back shortly after.

Taylor Adams
How would you describe your pre-season so far?
I’m relatively happy with the way I’m going. It’s good to be uninjured at this time of year and I’m just getting through every session – I haven’t missed a session yet, so that’s a major positive. I guess it’s pretty early on in the year so I’m just getting through, ticking off the sessions and doing as much running and footy stuff as I can.

Which player has stood out to you?
I think Travis Varcoe has started really well. He’s obviously at a new club, but he’s had a huge impact on and off the field. His leadership has been great and his knowledge of the game has really stood out.

What are your plans for Christmas?
I’ll head down to Geelong for Christmas with my family and spend time down in that neck of the woods, which should be good fun.
