All eyes of a football club are on the new faces as they make their first appearances at their new digs.

What makes them tick?

What’s their attitude like?

Can they help us get to where we want to go?

What is often overlooked is that the new faces are asking the exact same question of their new surroundings.

So when new Magpie Jack Crisp gives his teammates attitude and discipline on the training track the thumbs up, it’s worth noting.

“Everyone seems to be up and about and excited, but our training standards are through the roof,” Crisp told CollingwoodTV.

“We’ve got statistics to prove it. We’re constantly improving, so it’s really good.”

The standards appear to have left an impression on Crisp, who believes his own training standards are at an all-time high.

“Since I’ve been here I’ve progressed a very long way,” he continued.

“I’m the fittest I’ve ever been, I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been, and I’m getting continuous feedback that my training standards are pretty good, so I’m feeling really good about myself and how I’m training on and off the field at the moment.”

Crisp arrived at Collingwood as a result of the trade that saw Dayne Beams become a Brisbane Lion.

He played 18 games in three years at the Gabba after originally traversing the rookie list as he sought to make his way in the big time.

A country boy at heart (he hails from Myrtleford in north eastern Victoria) Crisp has quickly found his feet on his return to his home state.

“Not that I lived in Melbourne originally, but I feel more comfortable being able to see more of my family and friends and all that,” he explained.

“Joining a new club was easier than I thought.

“I was a bit nervous coming in because I didn’t know much, I didn’t know who worked here or who played here, but coming in, everyone was really nice and welcoming so it made it a lot easier for the transition and then I felt so comfortable straight away.”
