1897 –
The year Collingwood and Geelong met for the first time. There were three games between the two sides in 1897. Collingwood won the first in round 3, but was then defeated in round 10, and the Semi-Final.

226 – The amount of matches played between the two sides. Collingwood have a 57.3% win-rate.

138 – The number of games Travis Varcoe played at Geelong before crossing to Collingwood prior to the 2015 season. His time at the Cats included 130 goals, two premierships and a win-loss ratio of 114-24. Not bad!

133 – The amount of disposals recorded by Dane Swan and Scott Pendlebury in two games in 2012 against Geelong. Swan recorded totals of 27 and 40 while Pendlebury clocked up 30 and 36. It’s fair to say the pair responded well to the 2011 Grand Final loss.

38 – Geelong’s victorious margin in the 2011 Grand Final. Scott Pendlebury led all disposal getters on the day with 33.

28 – Disposals for Marty Clarke against the Cats in round 9, 2008. It was a career-high for the Irishman who played 22 games that season.  

24 – The number of goals kicked by Bob Rose against Geelong from 1946 to 1955. It was the most goal kicking success Rose had against any side and included a bag of three in just his second game for the club.

23 – Geelong’s record winning streak from round 12, 1952 to round 13 1953. Collingwood was not only the opponent that started the streak, it was also the one that ended it. The Magpies beat the Cats by 20 points in front of 31,635 at Kardinia Park.

14 – Collingwood’s longest winning streak against the Cats. After losing the 1901 Semi-Final by 21 points, Geelong didn’t taste success against the Pies for another six years. Eventually they secured a five point victory in round 17, 1907.

11 – Points. Geelong’s winning margin in the only clash between the two sides in 2014. Jamie Elliott kicked a career-high five goals in the round 3 clash.

10.4 – Collingwood’s biggest opening quarter against Geelong, in round 4, 1948. Lou Richards went on to kick three goals for the match as the Magpies won by 33 points.

7 – Gordon Coventry’s bag of goals in the 1930 Grand Final. Collingwood won the match by 30 points.

6 – The number of times Collingwood and Geelong have met in a Grand Final. Melbourne (7) is the only team to have played in more Grand Finals against the Magpies.

4 – The number of consecutive premierships won by Collingwood when they defeated Geelong to win the 1930 flag. No team has ever replicated this feat.
