Marley Williams is having some sort season.

After 11 games, the one-time rookie is averaging a career-best 20.27 disposals per outing as well as 4.36 rebounds and 2.91 tackles.

While we aren’t hearing whispers of ‘All-Australian smokey’ just yet, if he keeps up this sort of form line then the selectors will eventually have to take notice.

Not that it will be affecting Williams, who is just a month away from celebrating his 22nd birthday.

He appears comfortable in the knowledge that he is one of Collingwood’s most underrated players, plying his trade primarily in defence where he earned a combined eight votes from the two senior coaches in this week’s AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.

Williams collected 27 disposals and took the ball inside 50 on four occasions during his side’s 42-point win over Greater Western Sydney on Sunday, earning him votes from the coaches for the fourth time in as many weeks.

It was the second time he has registered 27 disposals in a game, having won more than that figure just once in his remaining 47 matches.

The performance also saw his disposal average against the Giants balloon out to 21.00, having won 20 touches in last year’s meeting.

Williams wasn’t the only Magpie who had the statisticians skimming the pages of their record books.

Taylor Adams was rewarded for his career-high 36 disposals – a satisfying return against his old team – with seven AFLCA votes.

Nathan Brown held the backline together with aplomb, limiting Giants star Jeremy Cameron to just two goals.

Just quietly, Brown is averaging a career-high 10.64 disposals per game in 2015. He has never averaged double figure disposals in a season since his debut in 2008.

Captain Scott Pendlebury again polled, earning five votes, and Travis Cloke took home one after finishing with a flurry.

Former Magpie favourite Heath Shaw polled two votes in his first meeting with his old club at the MCG, while Dylan Shiel also managed a vote for his 34 disposals.
