As he celebrates his 50th senior game, Collingwood Media highlights out five things you may not know about Marley Williams.

1. He’s a skilled tradesman
Williams was working as a fencer when he discovered he had been rookie listed by Collingwood.

2. He currently leads the club in rebound 50s
Providing key run out of the backline, Williams has tallied fifty-one rebound 50s already this year, ranking tenth best in the AFL.

3. The Tarkyn Lockyer connection
Born in Albany, Williams played his junior football in Western Australia before being rookie listed by Collingwood – the same circumstances that saw Magpie favourite Tarkyn Lockyer arrive at the club. In a further twist of fate, the two Albany boys now find themselves working together as player and coach respectively.

4. He was a draft steal
Recruited at No. 35 in the Rookie Draft of December 2011, Williams averaged 16.3 disposals while representing Western Australia at the 2011 Under 18 National Championships yet was overlooked in the regular draft. He wasted no time after being recruited, debuting in round nine in his first year at the club.

5. Forming the future
Now a regular fixture in the starting line up, Williams is one of the many young Magpies making their mark on the competition. Between Williams and fellow 2012 debutant Jamie Elliott, the pair has already played a combined 113 games for the club.
