Former Director of Football Geoff Walsh will be awarded with life membership by the AFL.
Walsh will be given the honour at the AFL’s Annual General Meeting in March for ‘Special Services to the Game’.
Walsh assumed the role of Director of Football at the Magpies in 2006 and continued to serve the club until 2013.
In Walsh, Collingwood gained a vastly experienced football administrator.
Since taking a role as Development Manager at Fitzroy in 1985, he worked extensively at Carlton and North Melbourne before joining Collingwood in 2006.
The Magpies made the finals every season during Walsh’s seven-year tenure.
He played an influential role as the club broke through to reach Premiership success in 2010 before departing in 2013.
Upon news of his resignation from Collingwood, President Eddie McGuire praised Walsh, saying “Geoff Walsh’s contribution to the Collingwood Football Club has been profound. He was one of the key architects of the rebuild of the team and our 2010 premiership success.”
The Collingwood Football Club would like to congratulate Walsh on his life membership and again thank him for his contributions to the club.
