Fresh off Collingwood’s surprise victory over Greater Western Sydney, a smiling Adam Treloar bounced into the Collingwood Media studios for his weekly vodcast with SEN’s Mark Allen.

As usual, his resulting chat with Allen on all things sport was highly entertaining.

Listen to the podcast version of the show in the module below, and listen out for these six key points.

PLAYING OLD FOES

Treloar began the show by discussing his nerves of taking on his former team, the Greater Western Sydney Giants.

“It was a bit strange,” Treloar said.

“The pressure was there from the start. I tried to play down my nerves quite a bit… deep down I was so nervous.

The star midfielder recounted how it took until the dying stages of the warm-up for him to confess his true emotions to a team-mate.

“Five minutes before the game, Brodie (Grundy) and I were just in the change-room… I said to Brodes – I hadn’t told anyone I was nervous – and I said to him ‘mate, I am cacking myself. I am so, so nervous’ and he goes ‘mate, calm down. I’ve got you out there, don’t worry’.

WHY THE AFL SHOULD INTRODUCE ICE HOCKEY RULES

As Allen and Treloar discussed the Tour de France, the concept of athletes getting ‘a free one’ was raised.

With tongue planted firmly in cheek, Treloar had an interesting take on how it could be interpreted in the AFL.

“If someone has cheap-shotted you, or talked crap about you… let’s do the ice hockey – first to the ground then the fight is over,” Treloar said.

“Let’s send it in (to the AFL) and we can organise it.”

THE DURANT RANT

Give Adam Treloar a forum to talk about basketball, and he’ll steal the show.

So imagine the prospect of giving a message to his basketball idol Kevin Durant.

Treloar stared down the barrel of the camera and discussed his thoughts on Durant joining the Golden State Warriors.

He concluded by saying “I’ve figured it out. When he’s not on the court, I’ll turn the TV off and I won’t watch. But when Durant is back on, I’ll be watching and cheering my heart out.”

THE HEARTBREAK OF RELOCATING

The topic of heartbreaking moments in sport would not be complete without anecdotes of teams relocating to another city.

“Imagine having a Melbourne Lions running around? Or a Fitzroy Bulldogs? Or a North Fitzroy Kangaroos,” Treloar proposed.

All were real possibilities when Fitzroy was faced with the prospect of a merger throughout the 1980s and 90s.

YOU WOULDN’T BELIEVE IT

Sports Galore’s favourite segment is back, and better than ever!

This episode, Allen tells the story of the Baltimore Colts – a team that packed up and left their city without any notice.

“No one knew about the relocation until the day it had happened. Think about that…” Allen states.

Treloar’s reply is priceless.

“This is ridiculous. This is not real… this is the most ludicrous thing I’ve ever heard.”

A SPORTS GALORE FAVOURITE RETURNS
He’s one of the most polarising characters in the world of tennis.

But Nick Kyrgios is quickly becoming a favourite of Sports Galore.

“Our boy Kyrgios should have won (Wimbledon),” Treloar randomly interjects as the host discuss Andy Murray claiming the men’s title at the All England Club.

“We’ve got to get him on here,” he adds.

Allen has a plan to not only get Nick Kyrgios on the show, but to make him a better tennis player.

“He needs a coach,” Allen says.

“Let’s get a team together for Nick Kyrgios.”
