Magpie midfielder Jordan De Goey will aim to be the quickest footballer in the country when he runs in Saturday’s Grand Final Sprint.

De Goey, 20, will compete against not only his AFL peers, but also the fastest state league and community footballers.

The 100m dash will all take place in front of a packed-out MCG at half time of the Western Bulldogs v Sydney Swans decider.

De Goey played 20 games in his second season in the AFL, settling in the midfield while also rotating through the forward line.

Drafted with Darcy Moore in 2014, the former Oakleigh Charger may call on his good mate for advice after Moore represented the Magpies in last year’s Grand Final sprint.

No Magpie has ever won the race, with entrants in recent years also including Ben Kennedy, Paul Seedsman, Brad Dick and Tyson Goldsack.

With a burst of speed almost as eye-catching as his blonde locks, De Goey will be one to watch at half time on Saturday afternoon.
