A former favourite of the GWS crowd, Will Hoskin-Elliott will return to Western Sydney as an opposition player for the first time when Collingwood meet the Giants on Saturday.

After growing up in Sunshine in Melbourne's west, the lure of home proved significant in Will Hoskin-Elliott’s decision to become a Magpie in October.

He joined two former teammates in Adam Treloar and Taylor Adams, who both encountered a return to GWS last year.

“I think he’ll be welcomed back, well and truly,” Treloar said on Collingwood Media vodcast ‘Sports Galore’.

“His exit was a little bit different to mine. He needed it for opportunities, obviously to play at the Pies.

“He was a massive favourite up there.”

After five injury-interrupted seasons at Greater Western Sydney, Hoskin-Elliott has found form and fitness in his first year at the Holden Centre.

In seven matches he’s averaging a career-high 17.6 disposals and kicking over a goal per game.

“They (GWS) will be pinching themselves that they don’t get to have him,” Treloar said.

“He’s having a career-best year now.”

Treloar had 27 possessions and was a key member in Collingwood’s win on the road against GWS in round 16 last season.

While injury is keeping him out of this year’s trip to Blacktown, he’s more than willing to offer advice to Hoskin-Elliott on what to expect.

One tip – stay out of the way of 199cm Giants’ ruckman Shane Mumford.

“He’s going to be extremely nervous,” Treloar told ‘Sports Galore’ co-host Mark Allen.

“He’s probably going to be worried that Shane Mumford is going to come in and eat him or something.

“(But) he’ll get out there and be fine.”
