Collingwood expects to regain star onballer Adam Treloar when it meets Hawthorn at the MCG on Saturdaynight.

Treloar was absent from his team’s trip to Greater Western Sydney due to an ankle complaint, but expects to return if a Thursday training session goes as planned.

"I should be fine. Hopefully I get through training... Thursday's the main session. I should be fine," Treloar said on his Collingwood Media vodcast 'Sports Galore'.

General Manager of Football Geoff Walsh also expressed his confidence in a likely return this week against Hawthorn.

“Adam missed last week with an ankle complaint,” Walsh said.

“He has recovered from that and we expect him to train fully this week and subsequently be available for selection.”

The match was the first Treloar has missed in his time at Collingwood, and his first of any kind since round 20, 2015.

He watched the Magpies' narrow loss to Greater Western Sydney in frustration.

"(It was) the seventh game I've missed in my whole career. Very strange (feeling)," he said on 'Sports Galore'.

"When Stevie J kicked that goal, I dropped a few f-bombs here and there."

Treloar and co-host Mark Allen used the vodcast to discuss the AFL's trip to China, as well as other new frontiers embarked upon in the world of sport.
