Collingwood fans rejoice!

The Hawthorn hoodoo is over.

Saturday night’s come-from-behind win ended the Hawks’ nine-game stranglehold over the Black and White.

The record dated back to the Preliminary Final of 2011, a full 2066 days before Saturday night.

Only three players from that 2011 side – Jarryd Blair, Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom – took to the field on the weekend.

For 14 Magpies, the win was their first over the Hawks.

Few would have enjoyed it more than 150-gamer Tyson Goldsack.

It was his first over Hawthorn from 12 starts, dating back to round 13, 2007.

Unfortunately for Goldy, he sat out his side’s wins in round four, 2010, round 15, 2011, and the Preliminary Final, when he was omitted.

The nine-game winning streak was Hawthorn’s best against Collingwood since entering the competition in 1925.

For now (and many years to come), the Magpies will have the last laugh, having won 29 games against the Hawks between 1925 and 1941.

So, Bally, we’ll always love your match-winning goal. But now, we can finally move on.
