While some of his teammates enjoyed a well-earned bye week break, Adam Treloar trained.

He did so in the comfort of his own home, setting up a garage gym which he plans to help him stay in shape when the off-season arrives.

Complete with a squat rack, an exercise bike, barbells and weight plates, the home set up appears to be the envy of any fitness fanatic.

But what if Treloar instead spent the weekend off with a squad of the best footballers the state of Victoria has produced?

“I like that idea,” the Magpie midfielder said when the topic of State of Origin was raised by co-host Mark Allen on Collingwood Media vodcast ‘Sports Galore’.

On Wednesday night, Queensland will take on New South Wales in the second game of Rugby League’s annual state-vs-state contest. It means the yearly debate on representative football once again returns to AFL circles.

“I’m so for it, and I hope all players are for it,” Treloar said.

“They need to get it back, State of Origin.”

Scott Pendlebury is the only current Magpie to have pulled on the Big V outside of junior and state-league football. The Collingwood captain joined teammates Josh Fraser and Leon Davis in the Hall of Fame tribute match between Victoria and the interstate All Stars in 2008.

While Pendlebury would support the return of State of Origin, he recently raised concerns on his own podcast over whether clubs would be on board with the concept.

“I know the players would support it. That’s not the issue. The clubs wouldn’t. You can’t afford to lose a player in those games” Pendlebury told co-host Jay Clark on ‘Jock and Journo’.

“Playing in ’08 as a 20-year-old, it was unbelievable.”

Which Magpies would make the cut if State of Origin returned? And who would line up on who?
