Saturday’s win over the Gold Coast Suns may have come on the unfamiliar turf of Metricon Stadium, but it felt like home for Adam Treloar and his Collingwood teammates.

The sea of red seats at the ground formerly known as Carrara were filled with Black and White as the Magpie Army made their presence felt on a soggy Saturday afternoon.

“Usually it’s a hostile environment, but you would have thought there was more Collingwood people there on the weekend,” Treloar said on Collingwood Media vodcast ‘Sports Galore’.

“It was quite remarkable. It’s a big credit to the Collingwood fans who came out to watch us.”

It’s not uncommon for the Magpies to be favourably supported on the road. And as has been the case this season, interstate trips are kind to the team.

Collingwood has lost just one game away from home this season – round eight’s three-point thriller against the GWS Giants. Victories meanwhile, have come against Sydney (round one), Fremantle (round 11) and now the Suns.

For Treloar, it’s a rare chance to escape the football-centric nature of Melbourne and focus on sharing time with teammates.

“It’s a good way to get away from everything and the bubble that is Melbourne,” he said.

“You get the comradery again. You get to live in each other’s pockets for a few days.”

While Treloar didn’t have any stories to share on the travelling tendencies of any of his teammates, he discussed a range of other topics with co-host Mark Allen on episode 16 of ‘Sports Galore’.
