While co-host Jay Clark couldn’t find a spot in his 2017 All-Australian team for a Magpie, Pendlebury believed three of his teammates have been among the AFL’s best 22 players this season.

The highest praise came for Steele Sidebottom, who Pendlebury referred to as “close to the best winger in the comp”.

Upon choosing his All-Australian team, the Collingwood captain said he would prefer a natural wingman to an extra midfielder.

“It’s slightly different from being an inside mid,” he said.

“You don’t find as much footy out on the wing, because you’re a little bit outside the contest.

“He (Sidebottom) plays that role.”

Sidebottom has had one of his most impressive seasons of AFL football in 2017.

The 26-year-old has averaged a career-high 27.7 disposals in 20 games this year. Responsibilities have risen in recent weeks, with the midfielder replacing an injured Pendlebury as captain of Collingwood's team.
