VFL: Pies defeated by Seagulls

Collingwood was unable to snap its Burbank Oval hoodoo as it fell to a 30-point loss to Williamstown on Sunday afternoon.

There was little to choose between the two sides, save for a five-goal to none burst from the home team at the end of the third quarter which put the game out of Collingwood’s reach.

The Magpies trailed from the first minute as Williamstown took an early lead. It appeared momentum was with the Pies midway through the third when the excellent Callum Brown expertly avoided a tackle to kick his second goal of the day to get his side within five points.

But a goal to the Seagulls’ milestone man Ben Jolley ignited the run which proved the difference in the final score.
