Collingwood has one last chance to secure its spot in the 2018 VFL Women’s Grand Final when it takes on Geelong in Sunday’s Preliminary Final.

The Magpies will spend the week reviewing their 11-point loss to Hawthorn in last Saturday’s Semi-Final, which means they will now exercise their double chance earned from finishing atop the ladder.

Geelong has its own story to tell, though, having staged a brave comeback in the Second Semi-Final against the NT Thunder. Having trailed by 15-points at the main break, the Cats were able to claim a nine-point win.

Sunday’s match will be the first time the Magpies and Cats have met since their draw in round two. Collingwood applied terrific defensive pressure all afternoon, but were unable to convert in front of goal.

Heading into this Sunday’s match, Collingwood’s main focus will be to start strong and capitalise on its trademark defensive pressure throughout the entire game. The Pies will also need to limit Geelong’s leading goal kickers Kate Darby and Mia Rae-Clifford.
