It’s going to be on for young and old at the MCG on Friday night.

And Scott Pendlebury is ready and excited for a Preliminary Final against Richmond, itching to once again face the Tigers after two defeats in the home and away season.

“We’ve learnt so much from that last time we played against Richmond about ourselves,” the Collingwood captain told podcast ‘Jock and Journo’.

“They’re an incredible side, you have to acknowledge that.

“They’re tough, they’re quick and they play as a unit. They’re physical, but I would say we’re physical as well.”

The Magpies have suffered 43 and 28-point losses to the Tigers in 2018. Both margins blew out in the final quarters, with Pendlebury and his teammates within two goals at three-quarter time on each occasion.

Since, Richmond have kept a 22-game MCG winning streak alive, while Collingwood worked its way into the Preliminary Final courtesy of a 10-point victory over the GWS Giants last weekend.

Pendlebury wouldn’t change a thing about the preparation the Magpies have had through their September campaign.

“I like that we’ve got Ads (Adam Treloar) two games in a row, Goldy (Tyson Goldsack) two games in a row and Howie (Jeremy Howe) two in a row.

“We’ve had the (pre-finals) break and we’re as fresh as we’re going to be.

“And I think we’ve won all our games this year off six-day breaks. You’ll have to check me on that.”

The skipper’s presumption is confirmed. Collingwood has won five out of five games on the back of a six-day break in 2018.

The sixth is there for the taking. And if secured it will be biggest victory in Pendlebury’s stint as Collingwood captain.
