AFLW: Pies v Cats preview

AFLW: Get set for Round 1 It's going to be a historic night when we kick off the 2019 AFLW season against Geelong at GMHBA stadium.

Collingwood kicks off the 2019 NAB AFLW season by taking on Geelong’s inaugural side on Saturday night at GMHBA Stadium.

Geelong enters the AFLW competition with high hopes having made the VFLW Grand Final in 2018.

However, the Cats will be without star recruit Richelle Cranston after she accepted a two-match ban for an incident in a recent practice match.

The Pies are likely to have a number of new players in Saturday’s line up including Irish recruit Sarah Rowe, former Australian Diamond Sharni Layton and a number of draftees.

Collingwood’s team for Saturday’s match will be released on Thursday evening.

Geelong will be hosting a free festival before the match with giveaways, face painting and food trucks as well as a live performance from Alice Ivy.
