Saturday is a huge day for the Collingwood Football Club, with the VFL Magpies set to play the first official match back at the club’s spiritual home, Victoria Park, since 1999.

The VFL Magpies will use Victoria Park as their home ground in season 2010 following a breakthrough agreement between the Collingwood Football Club and the Yarra Council last year, that paved the way for VFL matches to return to the ground.

The club played its last AFL game on the ground on 28 August 1999 against the Brisbane Lions, while the club’s training and administration headquarters moved to what is now the Westpac Centre in 2004.

The club urges all supporters to get to Victoria Park not only on Saturday afternoon but throughout season 2010 to support the VFL team, and enjoy watching football back at the ground the Magpies called home for more than 100 years.

Saturday’s round one VFL game against Williamstown kicks off at 1:10pm. Supporters are urged to use public transport services available in the area to avoid having to use limited parking available in the area.
