Collingwood’s VFL defence will be buoyed by the return of veteran defender Simon Prestigiacomo in Saturday’s match against Geelong at Victoria Park.
The 32-year-old has had an injury-riddled start the year (quad, groin) and will look to get through unscathed in time for a recall to face a Matthew Pavlich-led forward line next week (AFL fixture).
Coming off a bag of five majors in the 58-point win over Werribee (match report) John Anthony is closing in on a return to the senior side named as an emergency this week. Last year’s leading goal kicker will work with Leigh Brown and Tarkyn Lockyer against the Cats, the experienced hands proving potent with three goals each last weekend.
The VFL Magpies will aim for their first win on home soil after dropping their first two matches at Victoria Park this year. An even record after the first four rounds has Gavin Brown’s side sitting just inside the top eight and will aim for a second straight win over Cats (1-3, 10th).
Collingwoodfc.com.au will be covering the match with a live chat scheduled to commence at 12.30 pm (AEST).
