The VFL Magpies were unable to capitalise on a six goal to two opening term as they dropped the round 15 contest to Port Melbourne by 23 points at TEAC Oval; 14.21 (105) to 11.16 (82).

In positive news for the club, it was Collingwood’s senior players who impressed on the day with John Anthony the clear standout.

Anthony, who has played a key defensive role over the last three weeks, was in superb touch cutting off Port’s attack while dominating the one-on-one contests (10 spoils).

Also finding form, Josh Fraser (21 disposals) and Paul Medhurst (28 disposals) were named in the best, however inaccurate kicking by the two senior players ended up proving costly.  Fraser ended the day with 1.4 while Medhurst, who rotated through the midfield, missed three set shots in the final term.

Collingwoodfc.com.au will publish a player-by-player VFL report early next week.
