2009 season
Jolly enjoyed the best season of his career in 2009, finishing fourth in the Sydney club champion award. He led the league in total hitouts (682) and confirmed his standing as one of the premier ruckmen in the competition. He played all 22 games for the Swans, with his best performances coming in the round two victory over Hawthorn (19 disposals, seven marks, three goals, 42 hitouts), the round 12 loss to Collingwood (14 disposals, 53 hitouts) and the round 17 victory over Melbourne (14 possessions, three goals, 26 hitouts, five tackles).

Career
After being drafted onto Melbourne's rookie list in 2000, Jolly made 48 promising appearances for the Demons in four seasons before being traded to Sydney, where he established himself as one of the best tap ruckmen in the competition, using his huge physical presence and mobility to his advantage. A member of the Swans’ 2005 premiership team, and also the 2006 grand final side that lost to West Coast, Jolly's durability and toughness have been features of his career in Sydney. He played 118 games for the Swans in five seasons (including 113 straight, a streak that began in round eight, 2005), before requesting a trade back to Melbourne for family reasons. Collingwood pounced on Jolly, giving up its first round pick (No. 14 overall) to acquire the highly talented ruckman, who grew up in Lexton (about 160 kilometres north-west of Melbourne).

Draft history
2000 AFL Rookie Draft 2nd round selection (Melbourne) No. 31 overall; 2001 rookie elevation; 2004 AFL Draft traded by Melbourne to Sydney for pick No. 15 (Lynden Dunn) overall; 2009 AFL Draft traded by Sydney for picks No. 14 and No. 46 overall
