Round six

A scintillating 12-goal first half paved the way for a comfortable 91 point Collingwood victory over Frankston at Frankston Oval on Saturday afternoon; 18.12 (120) to 3.11 (29).

The Magpies slammed on six goals in each of the first two terms while holding Frankston goalless, opening up a 76-point buffer at the long break. Although the Dolphins fought their way back into the game in general play in the second half, they could only manage three majors to Collingwood's six, allowing the Pies to record a 91-point win.

It was the form of Leigh Brown at full forward which set the Pies alight, the utility booting six goals for the afternoon, and having a hand in numerous others. Also impressive was Josh Fraser, who moved well on return from a knee injury.

Midfielders Jaxson Barham and Tarkyn Lockyer helped themselves to plenty of the ball all game long, while captain Kris Pendlebury was the general in defense. Also notable was the even contribution from several of the club's younger players, such as draftees Josh Thomas and Ben Sinclair.

The VFL Magpies will enjoy a break next weekend due to the State of Origin clash between Victoria and Western Australia, and will set themselves to tackle the Gold Coast up at Southport on Saturday, May 29.
