Craig McRae fronted the media following main training on Friday morning.

Brodie Grundy

While he was available for selection this week, Fly said Grundy will return when he's at an 'optimal' level.

"He trained really well today, it's really pleasing."

"We're just trying to ramp up his volume - he's physically able to play but we're keen to get him as optimal as we can.

"He's missed 13 rounds at this level... if we see fit to play him in the VFL next round, we will.

"He makes us better - his centre bounce stuff in the first four or five rounds was as good as anyone in the competition.

"We're looking forward to getting him back."

Essendon

The Bombers will be eager to continue a three-game winning streak.

"Their centre bounces are a real weapon."

"They kicked six goals against Brisbane (from centre clearances) a couple of weeks ago.

"It's not a great part of our game and we're going to have to be really aware of that.

"There's no easy games, this will be a really good challenge for us.

"They are playing with aggressive ball movement and it's hard to defend against."

Self-confessed footy nuff

When asked if he will watch a few games before coaching his side on Sunday, Fly had this to say:

"I'm a footy nuff, I love footy.

"I watch almost every game."

Ash Johnson

Johnson was impressive on debut and is in the selection mix again this week.

"You can see that he's got plenty of upside, he finished with two goals from 11 possessions."

"There's work to do in parts of his game but he's an exciting talent."
