Decorated forward Alan Didak pressed his case for a return to senior action with 29 disposals and two goals in Collingwood’s VFL loss to the Box Hill Hawks on Saturday.

In his second match since overcoming an adductor strain, Didak earned 13 disposals in the opening quarter alone and finished with 29 for the game. It comes on the back of his 22 touches in last week’s win over the Northern Blues.

Coach Tarkyn Lockyer praised the 29-year-old’s attitude towards his return from injury.

“I thought he was really good. His ball use was very good,” Lockyer told collingwoodfc.com.au.

“For a senior player to come back, he did very, very well. His ball use was sensational. He kicked two and had 29 and moved a lot better than what he did last week.

“Certainly a real positive to come out of the game with the way he finished off.”

Lockyer also mentioned that Nathan Brown, while not as prolific as in recent weeks, was building nicely.

“(Brown) did ok, not as good as last week but certainly if called upon he looks right to go for senior footy.”

The Magpies led by three points after a bright opening quarter but the more experienced Hawks put the foot down in the second term kicking seven goals to one.

Several VFL-listed players such as Sam Williams, Jack Hellier and Ricky Ferraro were prominent figures for the Pies while recruit Jamie Elliott bobbed up with four majors in his first VFL match for the season.
