As the 2015 Cricket World Cup gets underway, collingwoodfc.com.au caught up with the club’s resident cricket guru Brent Macaffer.

Macaffer, a fine junior batsman in the mould of his Pakistani idol Shahid Afridi, has compiled his first choice XIs for international one-day cricket, the Collingwood playing list and his all-time favourite players.

In part two of Macaffer’s XI, he names and explains his ultimate international one-day cricket line up.

Brent Macaffer’s XI: Ultimate one-day cricket team
1. Adam Gilchrist (Australia)
2. Virender Sehwag (India)
3. Ricky Ponting (Australia)
4. Brian Lara (West Indies)
5. Sachin Tendulkar (India)
6. Jacques Kallis (South Africa)
7. Michael Bevan (Australia)
8. Shane Warne (Australia)
9. Wasim Akram (Pakistan)
10. Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka)
11. Glenn McGrath (Australia)
12th Man: Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka)

“In my best side of all time, there was not a lot of debate,” Macaffer explained.

“A lot of the boys like it as well.

“Youngy (Clinton Young) made a big call, wanting Mike Hussey in over Michael Bevan.

Review Part I of Macaffer's XI now.

“But Bevan has won numerous games and I prefer the cricket of yesteryear than that of recent times.”

Macaffer’s team bats all the way down to Bevan at number seven, with Warne and Akram more than capable with the willow in their hands.

In Warne, Muralitharan, McGrath and Akram, his side has 1710 One Day International wickets up its sleeve, while with the addition of Kallis as a fifth bowler, it boasts 1983.
