Ben Reid was named to return in the state league against Richmond a fortnight ago but was held over after the club deemed it was not completely comfortable with his conditioning.

Clinton Young, meanwhile, returned in the VFL against Essendon a month ago but injured his hamstring against Footscray the following week.

The left footed backmen will add experience to a young outfit that keeps on prevailing in the close finishes.

The VFL Magpies have won their past three games by four, nine and three point margins and have had several youngsters and VFL-listed players step up when the moment required maturity.

Jonathon Marsh, Ben Kennedy, Ryan Pendlebury and Michael Still have been driving forces in the team’s run of success, reversing a 0-2 start to the season.

Collingwood will be tested by stiff opposition in the form of a hungry Coburg outfit, which includes former Magpie rookie Michael Hartley.
