The Rocca brothers will reunite on the same football ground for the first time since 2000 when Etihad Stadium hosts the annual E.J. Whitten Legends Game later this month.

When Saverio Rocca joins younger brother Anthony in wearing the famous Big V, it will mark the first time since 2 July 2000 that the pair have played a match alongside each other.

While Anthony remained at Collingwood until the end of 2009 (and is currently a member of its development coaching staff), Sav headed for Arden Street at the end of 2000, where he played a further 101 senior games.

Combined, the Rocca brothers kicked 918 goals in 376 games in the Black and White between 1992 and 2009.

Sav sits in fifth spot on the club’s all-time goal kicking tallyboard, four places ahead of Anthony.

They won’t be the only men with a Collingwood connection to wind back the clock when the Victorians take on the All-Stars.

Dual Copeland Trophy winner Mark Williams will coach the All-Stars, a team that will include ex-Pies Quinten Lynch (2013-2014) and Mal Michael (1997-2000).

The Vics are laden with former Magpies, including the recently retired Luke Ball (2010-2014), Damian Monkhorst (1988-1999), the Rocca brothers, Heath Scotland (1999-2003) and Damien Peverill, who was the club’s VFL captain in 2009.

A highlight of the football calendar each year, the match will be played at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday 30 June.
