Another new Magpie: James Aish

Trade Daily: Treloar joins Join Sarah Allen on the latest episode of Collingwood Media's Trade Daily following the completion of the Adam Treloar deal.
James Aish played 32 games for Brisbane before joining Collingwood.

Collingwood has added another talented young midfielder to its list, securing Brisbane’s James Aish in the final hours of the 2015 trade period.

As part of a three-club trade involving Brisbane and North Melbourne, Collingwood sent pick No. 26 and a future second round draft pick to Brisbane in exchange for Aish, while receiving picks No. 34 and No. 53 from North Melbourne in exchange for picks No. 28 and No. 47.

The 19-year-old Aish played 32 games for the Lions after being selected with pick No. 7 of the 2013 National Draft, the pick following fellow South Australian and Collingwood defender Matthew Scharenberg.

He joins Adam Treloar as emerging young players who have chosen to progress their careers at Collingwood under coach Nathan Buckley.

Head of List Management Derek Hine said the club has been impressed by Aish’s clean hands and decision making ability.

“James is a very skilled young player who uses the ball extremely well on both sides of his body and makes good decisions in heavy traffic,” Hine said.

“At the age of 19, we see James as a long-term player with huge room for growth.

The deal caps off a successful Trade Period that saw the acquisition of Jeremy Howe, Treloar and Aish.

“We’re really pleased with the good, young talent we have been able to inject into our list,” Hine said.

“We think Jeremy, Adam and James all have fantastic qualities both on and off the field and we look forward to seeing their careers grow and unfold at Collingwood."

TRADED IN: Jeremy Howe (Melbourne), Adam Treloar (GWS Giants) and James Aish (Brisbane Lions)
TRADED OUT: Nathan Freeman (St Kilda), Paul Seedsman (Adelaide Crows) and Ben Kennedy (Melbourne)

Collingwood currently holds picks 34, 53, 63, 83, 101 and 119 in the 2015 National Draft.
