During open training on Wednesday, supporters are encouraged to bring their favourite Collingwood keepsakes with them to show our Collingwood Archives Committee, who have set up a magnificent display of supporter memorabilia, Carna Pies, in the Holden Centre foyer.

Our Archives Committee will assess the item, and supporters will have the chance to loan it for temporarily at the Holden Centre as a part of the Carna Pies display.

What sort of items are we talking about?

Read on. Our club historian, Michael Roberts, fills you in.

About the Carna Pies Display
Collingwood is a byword for passion. That’s beyond dispute.

After all, which club could fill its memorabilia cabinets with artefacts and souvenirs like ours?

The club’s Archives Committee has put together Carna Pies, a magnificent display that details the lifelong passion of the Magpie Army.

All objects in the display cabinets have been gathered by fanatical Collingwood supporters – to wear to the game, to use at home or school, to play with or just to have decorating their house.

There are objects of great beauty, some that raise eyebrows (Collingwood toilet paper, perhaps) and others so kitsch they defy expectation.

Others are home-made homages to devotion: the scrapbooks lovingly and painstakingly compiled, the duffle coats adorned with badges and patches, the wonderfully irreverent fanzines.

All are examples of the myriad ways that fans have found over the years to show their love for the mighty Magpies.

So whether it’s wearing a scarf to a game, or painting your whole house Black and White, let’s keep showing the world how much we love the club.

It’s what makes us who we are.

The Carna Pies display is available for viewing between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Friday at the Holden Centre.
