Injury Update: Latest on Howe

Injuries: Latest on Howe Collingwood General Manager of Football Geoff Walsh has the latest on the fitness of Jeremy Howe and other Magpies ahead of the Grand Final.

Collingwood expects Jeremy Howe to be fit to take his place in Saturday’s Grand Final against West Coast despite suffering an ankle complaint in the Preliminary Final.

Howe left the field hurt during the third quarter of Friday night’s momentous win over Richmond, but returned to the field to play out the match.

“The only player of note in terms of how he is tracking is Jeremy Howe, who came off with that ankle injury,” General Manager of Football Geoff Walsh told Collingwood Media’s Injury Update.

“He went back on and finished the game. He pulled up a bit sore but is tracking really well.

“His progression this week has been monitored by our medical and conditioning team and has been certainly satisfactory in terms of the steps he has taken and we would expect that there would be no issues there.”

The club also expects tall utilities Darcy Moore (hamstring) and Ben Reid (calf) to put their hands up for selection after dealing with soft tissue injuries in recent weeks.

“Guys that had been under some sort of doubt in previous weeks, such as Ben Reid and Darcy Moore, have been training strongly so they will put themselves into selection contention as well,” Walsh continued.

“It is really pleasing that we are able to report that the long tailing injury list that we had early in the year exists no longer.”

Collingwood will name its Grand Final team at 6.25pm on Thursday evening.
