Pies coach Nathan Buckley says his players are ready to hit the ground running when they open their premiership season campaign with a massive Friday night clash against Geelong at the MCG on March 22.

Buckley addressed the Collingwood faithful at the club's season launch in Melbourne on Wednesday evening and was bullish about what lies ahead.

"The main thing I want to say tonight is that we’re in good shape," Buckley said.

"The boys have had a really big pre-season.

"We feel like the resilience that we showed in the last couple of weeks, travelling over to Perth and playing on a really big ground on a hot day, then coming back and playing in Morwell in a really close game.

"We fatigued towards the end of it, but unlike a lot of clubs that seem to be having players dropping left, right and centre, our conditioning seems to be really strong."

The Pies were one of six teams to go through the JLT Community Series undefeated, their wins over Fremantle and Carlton setting them up for a strong tilt at starting the season strongly.

"We’re really looking forward to attacking the early stages of the season," Buckley said.

"We feel like we’ve got a great connection in the group as a group - coaches, players and staff - and we feel like we’ve got a really strong idea about what we want our football to look like."
