Essendon has lost another big name ahead of Friday night's clash with Collingwood, with key defender Cale Hooker to be replaced by Michael Hartley.

The Dons had already made a host of changes for their round 23 encounter, losing captain Dyson Heppell as well as Zac Clarke, David Zaharakis, Jake Stringer and Orazio Fantasia.

They had also dropped last week's debutant Brandon Zerk-Thatcher.

Hooker was supposed to lead the list of inclusions, which also included debutant Tom Jok, as well as Josh Begley, Jayden Laverde, Tom Bellchambers and Dylan Clarke.

However, he is lost due to illness.

Collingwood made one change to last week's team with Darcy Moore replacing the injured Steele Sidebottom.
