A smooth left footer who is best suited to the half back flank or centre wing. Yagmoor, who began his career on Collingwood's senior list before being moved to the rookie list at the end of 2012, took great strides at the back end of last year and was one of the VFL Magpies' most improved players by season's end. His kicking and decision making in defence are undoubtedly his biggest weapons while his ability to combine defence and attack became more noteworthy as 2013 wore on. Yagmoor, who has both Lebanese and Indigenous blood running through his veins, was born and raised in Cairns but moved to Brisbane in 2008. He will be seeking to break through and add to his two senior games at some stage in 2014.

Spent last season on the senior list but was delisted and taken in the Rookie Draft in December. The neat left-footer played four pre-season games and was awarded a round one debut against Hawthorn but failed to touch the ball, which hurt his confidence. Had a second opportunity in round seven against the Lions and was better with 11 possessions but needs to translate his good attitude into increased self-belief.

Season By Season

Yagmoor entered the season on the rookie list, 12 months after being traded to the club from Gold Coast as a pre-listed player. His shift from the senior list did not hinder his confidence for he ended the season ranked fourth in the Joseph Wren Memorial Trophy (Collingwood’s VFL best-and-fairest). It marked a sharp rise in form that saw Yagmoor develop into one of the VFL team’s most reliable defenders and its preferred option to take the ball from half back.

After a steady start, he collected 21 touches and won four clearances against Williamstown in round five and from there on began to improve with each passing week. His best performance for the season came in muddy conditions at Preston City Oval when he helped the Magpies overcome the Northern Blues with his 22 possessions, 10 handball receives and seven rebounds from half back. His long left foot kicks from half back made him a real weapon in the second half of the year and he performed credibly in the Elimination Final with 15 possessions, three marks and three rebounds.

Played at half back for Morningside in the QAFL, having trained with Gold Coast over the pre-season. The Panthers reached the Grand Final but were defeated by the Northern Territory in the Grand Final. Was pre-listed by the Suns during trade week as one of the club’s Queensland zone selections and was trade to Collingwood along with selection No. 50 in exchange for draft selection No. 47. Travelled to Arizona as a part of the club’s training camp and impressed greatly with his work ethic and quick improvement.

Moved to Brisbane from Cairns on a Michael Voss/AFLQ Scholarship to finish his schooling at St Peters College.

Toured South Africa with the Indigenous All-Stars.
