Assistant Coach

Harvey, who played 383 games for St Kilda, held positions of Development Coach (2009) and Assistant Coach (2010) at the Carlton Football Club before returning to St Kilda as Assistant Coach ahead of the 2011 season.

He retired in 2008 as one of the most decorated players in the game’s history, having won consecutive Brownlow Medals in 1997 and 1998, four St Kilda Best and Fairest awards and eight All-Australian team honours. Over his 21-year-career, he was lauded for his incredible running capacity and his ability to burn off his opponents with his speed and endurance. He became the prototype for the modern midfielder, and was regarded by Nathan Buckley as having set the benchmark for the ability to burst from a pack, evade tacklers and hit his target in space.

After Ross Lyon quit the club in September 2011, Harvey was appointed as St Kilda's interim Senior Coach.

Harvey joined Collingwood as the Midfield Coach for season 2012. He continued in this role in 2013, and was awarded the AFL Coaches Association's Assistant Coach of the Year award for his efforts as Collingwood made an eighth consecutive finals series.

In 2014, Harvey was elevated to the role of Senior Assistant Coach, a post he remained in until the end of 2016, when he assumed control of the team's backline. He returned to the familiar post as Midfield and Transition Coach in 2018.
