Who’s in the team?

Our Magpie Community Football Team consists of people from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Players join the team for support, connection, and a sense of belonging and credit the program for its ability to deliver that and more.

Each matchday, 25 players will make up the squad with the squad continuously rotating as people join the program throughout the year. All players are over the age of 16 with no age limit on players.

What about the coach?

YSAS Team Leader, Shane Williams will continue to coach the team with multiple years of experience heading the program. Shane will again be supported by former North Melbourne and Collingwood Football star Daniel Wells in an assistant coaching role, bringing a multitude of AFL experience for the players to learn from.

Who will lead the team?

Longstanding captain Julian Brooks will lead the team once again in 2023.
