Collingwood is pleased to announce its coaching group for the 2025 NAB AFLW Season.
Sam Wright, who enters his second season as the Pies’ AFLW Senior Coach, heads up a coaching panel for Season 10 with a mix of returning coaches and fresh faces.
Returning to Collingwood’s AFLW program is Dom Tyson, who will serve as Senior Assistant and Backline Coach.
Tyson enjoyed a 113-game AFL career across three clubs (GWS, Melbourne and North Melbourne) before retiring in 2021.
Post football, the 32-year-old served as Head Coach with the First XVIII Football team at De La Salle College and now enters his second season at the Pies.
Joining Tyson as the Backline Development Coach is foundation Magpie and AFLW All-Australian player Jess Duffin, who continues her 2024 role.
The inaugural AFLW player went on to play 13 games in the black and white before making the move to North Melbourne and finishing her career at Hawthorn with a total of 42 AFLW games.
Collingwood’s 2023 VFL Vice-Captain, Tom Wilson will continue as the program's Midfield Coach and Head of Development.
The VFL veteran has been a star for the competition for over a decade, starring for the Northern Bullants before joining the Club in 2023.
Former Collingwood AFL player Daniel Wells joins the panel this year as the Midfield Development Coach.
The 2002 number two draft pick went on to play 259 AFL games over 17 seasons with the Kangaroos and Magpies and captained the inaugural Indigenous All-Stars team that represented Australia on an international stage.
Dan Currie returns to the panel as the sides' Forwards Coach.
The 36-year-old played 10 games across his time with the Kangaroos and the Gold Coast SUNS (2013 to 2017).
Post football, he served as an AFLW Talls Coach at North Melbourne.
Tom Cashin, who was appointed the Pies’ VFLW Senior Coach last year, will again serve as the AFLW Forwards Development Coach.
Another new addition to the group is Cam Morris, who joins the program as Head of Strategy.
General Manager of Women’s Football Jess Burger said the panel will be integral in continuing the progress and standards for the next phase of the program.
“Our coaching team has laid the groundwork for growth and performance, and we look forward to seeing that development come to life this season,” Burger said.
“Each member of the coaching group brings deep football knowledge and experiences, paired with the ability to connect meaningfully across the program with players and staff.
“Daniel’s return is a great addition to the panel. His understanding of the game is exceptional, and his ability to convey messaging through clear direction is a real strength. We’re proud to have him back in the fold.
“There’s a strong sense of purpose heading into Season 10, as our coaches, players, and staff are aligned in the commitment to drive the growth required to achieve sustained success.”
