Collingwood’s young talent Ash Centra has been named on the wing in the AFL Player's Association 22under22 team in her first season in the league.

Last year's number one draft pick has made a strong impression in her first AFLW campaign despite an interrupted pre-season.

The talented teenager debuted in Round 1 and quickly adapted to the elite level, averaging 14 disposals and kicking six majors from her opening eight games.

Centra’s breakout moment came in Round 5 against Sydney, earning her a Rising Star nomination after collecting 18 disposals and kicking two goals.

Continuing her momentum the following week, she displayed a superb effort against Hawthorn, collecting 24 disposals and finishing with two goals.

Executive General Manager of Women’s Football Jess Burger congratulated Centra on the recognition.

“We’re incredibly proud of Ash and the recognition she’s earned with the selection in the 22under22 team,” Burger said.

“Having faced a disrupted start to her pre-season, she worked incredibly hard to get herself match-ready and contribute to the team.

“But what’s been great to see is Ash continue to play her brand of football and develop her craft at the highest level alongside her teammates.

“We are excited to watch her continue to grow, enjoy her footy, and build on what’s already been a promising start to her career.”

Despite missing the final team, Lucy Cronin was recognised for her outstanding season with selection in the 44-player squad.

Impressively only entering her second season, Cronin played an integral role in the Pies backline, averaging 13.2 disposals and 6.5 intercept possessions throughout her 12 outings.
