At 93, life-long Collingwood supporter Jean Murphy has seen the team she loves experience many ups and downs over her lifetime. Born in 1921, Jean, who also goes by ‘the Murfster’ has seen 32 Grand Finals, 10 premierships,  31 captains, every one of Collingwood’s nine Brownlow medallists play and nearly 1,900 games.

In perhaps one of the highlights of her 93-year love affair with the club last week, Jean was taken on  a surprise tour of the Westpac Centre where she met the entire team before walking up the race with the players to training.

Jean has a picture of her favourite player Dane Swan stuck to her walking frame and was overjoyed when Swan presented her with a personalised number ‘36’ guernsey upon her arrival at the club.

“I don’t care if I go tomorrow, my dream has come true” she told the players.

After attending every game until she moved into an aged care facility, Jean has been able to continue to watch her beloved Pies play on Fox Footy each week, which she has had specially connected to her room. She revealed to Collingwood coach, Nathan Buckley that she also ensures she watches the replay after each game.

After hearing Jean’s story, Foxtel generously donated a 12 month subscription to Jean, who was shocked and speechless when it was given to her.     Jean’s daughter-in-law Julie thanked Foxtel for the subscription.

“Jean was so excited to just visit the club and then to be given 12 months of Fox Footy on top of everything else, she is just over the moon and so grateful for the generosity that they have shown her.”

Julie said the visit to Collingwood was one of the most wonderful experiences of Jean’s 93 years.

“It was so exciting for her and a dream come true to meet her "darlings".”
