Collingwood supporters will get their first look at several of the club’s big name recruits when the Magpies take on Essendon and the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium in Friday night’s NAB Cup opener.

All three of the club’s pre-draft recruits, Quinten Lynch, Clinton Young and Jordan Russell, have been named in the 30-man squad that will play two matches comprising two 20-minute halves.

Much-travelled ruckman Ben Hudson’s name is also on the team sheet alongside Kyle Martin, Sam Dwyer and Jack Frost, the club’s three VFL imports in December’s Rookie Draft.

Collingwood’s squad is brimming with senior talent, with 13 premiership players included alongside established figures such as Andrew Krakouer, Marty Clarke and Ben Sinclair.

The good news story is the return of Brent Macaffer, who has been named to play his first senior match since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against the Bulldogs in last year’s NAB Cup.
