Those travelling to the MCG for Friday night's blockbuster between Collingwood and Carlton are advised to catch public transport or to allow extra time to reach the ground.
Victoria Police has warned a planned protest could cause traffic chaos, particularly in the area around Flinders Street Station.
More than 10,000 protestors are expected to march through the city before reaching the corner of Flinders St and Swanston St at about 5pm.
